Instructions for removing old media & replacing with new Refill Kit: Also, see photos in gallery. (Have a bucket or washing up bowl handy to catch any water) (Also, a small flat bladed screwdriver or similar is needed). Photos show 035ct - Same procedure applies to 025ct 1) Open the lid of the filter box in the aquarium by lifting the various clips in the usual way. 2) Lift out the 3 cube filter cages containing the filter media and place in bucket or bowl allowing excess water to drain. 3) With a dry cloth, wipe the filter cage on the outside and hold the filter cage in the cloth for the next stage . 4) Looking down at the top of the cube cage, 2 slots will be evident, you may need to wipe away any built up algae or sediment to access them clearly. These slots contain a small lug that fastens the 'lid' of the cage when closed.. 5) Using ideally a small flat bladed screwdriver or equivalent, gently push the blade into the slot putting slight pressure downwards on the lug then gently prise open, freeing the lug from it's seating. Repeat the process on the other lug. (Please take care when using the screw driver keeping fingers away from blade. Youngsters, ask an adult to do this part) You can now open the lid of the cage and remove the 0ld filter wool containing the media and discard. 6) Almost Done. Give the cage a rinse in some aquarium water in a bowl removing any excess algae etc. Your new refill is supplied as per the original, foam filter wool containing the media. It is supplied 'parcel shape' folded over at the sides and ends with a rubber band to avoid contents spilling out. The rubber band can be left permanently in place, Simply push the foam parcel compactly into the cage, close the lid ensuring the lugs clip securely back into their slots. Replace each cage back into the filter box housing after washing in aquarium water. ***VOILA*** Job done at a fraction of the cost. The whole process takes me less than 1 minute per cage.
